The 2019 American Legion 100th Anniversary Commemorative Five Dollar Gold is a United States five-dollar gold coin from the Modern Commemorative Five Dollar Gold (1984-Date) series. In 2019 the West Point Mint struck 2,929 uncirculated and 10,916 proof American Legion five-dollar gold coins, 13,845 in all. The obverse features the Eiffel Tower and a V for victory inside a rim taken from the American Legion emblem, and the reverse displays a soaring eagle below the Legion emblem. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck in 90% gold, 6% silver and 4% copper, weighing 8.36 grams, 21.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Designed by Chris Costello/Paul C. Balan.
