The 1991 Mount Rushmore Golden Anniversary Commemorative Five Dollar Gold is a United States five-dollar gold coin from the Modern Commemorative Five Dollar Gold (1984-Date) series. In 1991 the West Point Mint struck 31,959 uncirculated and 111,991 proof Mount Rushmore five-dollar gold coins, 143,950 in all. The obverse features an eagle in flight over Mount Rushmore, carrying a sculptor's mallet and chisel, and the reverse is lettering only, reading MOUNT RUSHMORE NATIONAL MEMORIAL. Struck in 90% gold and 10% alloy, weighing 8.36 grams, 21.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Designed by John M. Mercanti/Robert Lamb.
