The 1988 Seoul Olympiad Commemorative Five Dollar Gold is a United States five-dollar gold coin from the Modern Commemorative Five Dollar Gold (1984-Date) series. In 1988 the West Point Mint struck 62,913 uncirculated and 281,465 proof Seoul Olympic five-dollar gold coins, 344,378 in all. The obverse features Nike, goddess of victory, wearing an olive wreath, and the reverse displays a stylized Olympic flame below the U.S. Olympic logo. Struck in 90% gold and 10% alloy, weighing 8.36 grams, 21.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Designed by Elizabeth Jones/Marcel Jovine.
