2017 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-011
ErrorDescription
Extra stones visible at the top of the cellar window identify WDDR-011 on the 2017 Philadelphia Mint Ozark National Scenic Riverways Quarter. The Ozark reverse features a historic grist mill and Alley Spring, providing architectural details against which the extra stone doubling is readily apparent. Obverse die markers include a die crack across the base of the bust with chipping north of the ER in QUARTER, plus a die gouge left of the U in TRUST and a small die gouge right of the left leg of the first A in AMERICA. Reverse markers comprise thin north-south die scratches between the branches below the RW in RIVERWAYS and the background trees, plus a small die gouge in the field far below the K in OZARK. Cataloged under Wexler Variety ID 2017-P 25¢ MO WDDR-011, the extensive die marker inventory across both sides provides multiple confirmation points for positive attribution.
