Description
2016 WDDR-004 is a doubled die reverse on the 2016 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. Slight doubling is visible between the sixth and seventh vertical stripes. Obverse markers: grouped gouges over the 6 of the date; a small gouge well south of the 1; gouges between the I and N of IN and below its N; grouped gouges left of the first T in TRUST, near its top; a roughly vertical crack through the hair behind the ear; and gouges below the bust on its right side. Reverse markers: a crack following the shield's top above E PLURIBUS; a small gouge at the rim left of the U in UNITED; right of the O in ONE, a gouge or possibly a plating blister; and light horizontal scratches under the shield's right side. John L. Smith submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
