2016 (P) Harpers Ferry National Historical Park Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-011

Description

2016-P WV WDDR-011 is a doubled die reverse on the 2016-P Harpers Ferry National Historical Park quarter (West Virginia) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling lies in the windows of the arch over the central doorway: windows 2 and 3, counting from the left, in the row second from the bottom, and window 2 in the third row. Obverse Stage A has no significant markers. On Stage B a small die chip lies left of the top of the J of the designer's initials. Stage C has several chips left of the initials, a gouge under the left side of QUARTER's A, and a gouge under DOLLAR's A; Wexler says these Stage C gouges might or might not appear on earlier stages. Wexler notes no significant markers on Reverse Stage A, and Stage B is the same. Reverse Stage C has a die break on the left roof's right side and a gouge inside the lower opening of JOHN's H; that gouge, too, might or might not appear on earlier stages. Aaron Laramee submitted Stages A and B, and George W. Powell, Jr. Stage C. Wexler lists no cross-references.
