2016 (P) Harpers Ferry National Historical Park Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-024

Description

2016-P WV WDDR-024 is a doubled die reverse on the 2016-P Harpers Ferry National Historical Park quarter (West Virginia) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling lies in the windows of the arch over the central doorway: the bottom row's fourth window from the left, and the fourth from the left in the row second from the bottom. On Obverse Stage A the obverse is WUFO-001, with a die ring on the ear; there is also a gouge under the top left serif of LIBERTY's Y and a gouge inside the lower opening of QUARTER's last R. Obverse Stage B is the same as Stage A. Reverse Stage A has a gouge under the left side of JOHN's H, a small gouge at the building's lower left corner, and, SE of the designer's initials TRH, another gouge. Reverse Stage B keeps those markers and adds a die chip on the left roof's right side and a crack along the building's lower right corner. Evan Goldfarb submitted Stage A, with additional die markers from a coin sent in by George W. Powell, Jr.; Powell submitted Stage B. Wexler lists no cross-references.
