2016 (P) Harpers Ferry National Historical Park Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-003

Description

2016-P WV WDDR-003 is a doubled die reverse on the 2016-P Harpers Ferry National Historical Park quarter (West Virginia) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling lies in the windows of the arch over the central doorway: window 3, counting from the left, in the lowest row. Obverse Stage A has a thin scratch heading NW off the left arm of LIBERTY's Y, a small gouge close to the rim under the right side of QUARTER's A, and a gouge close to the rim under DOLLAR's first L. On Obverse Stage B the Stage A markers may or may not show; three small die chips lie left of the designer's initials, with a large chip over them. Reverse Stage A has small gouges over FORT's T, between the guard tower and the left roof, and over the guard tower's left side. On Reverse Stage B the Stage A markers may or may not show, and there is a die break at the top right of the main building's left side. Alfonso Lopez submitted the variety; additional Stage A photos come from a coin sent in by Aaron Laramee. Wexler lists no cross-references.
