Description

2016-P WV WDDR-046 is a doubled die reverse on the 2016-P Harpers Ferry National Historical Park quarter (West Virginia) in the America the Beautiful series, cataloged by the Wexler team. The doubling lies in the windows of the arch over the central doorway: windows 3 and 4, counting from the left, in both the bottom row and the row second from the bottom. Obverse Stage A has a gouge to the right of QUARTER's A near its top, a gouge touching the right side of QUARTER's last R, and a gouge left of STATES' A. On Obverse Stage B the Stage A markers may or may not show, and a die chip lies left of the J of the designer's initials. Reverse Stage A has a gouge over the third barrel. On Reverse Stage B that marker may or may not show, and die chips sit on the roof's left end and on top of the tower. George W. Powell, Jr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
