Description

The 2015 (S) Proof Presidential Dollar - Dwight D. Eisenhower is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 1.3 million examples, making this ranked 0th of 16 mint variants by mintage, with 1% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The thirty-fourth President (1953–1961), Dwight D. Eisenhower was the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during World War II who oversaw postwar prosperity and the creation of the Interstate Highway System. He previously appeared on the Eisenhower dollar (1971–1978), making this his second U.S. dollar coin appearance. Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson were honored. The Kennedy dollar is collected alongside the Kennedy Half Dollar for a complete set spanning two denominations. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value is approximately $7. Struck in 77% copper, 12% zinc, 1% other over a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #541300.
