Description

The 2015 (D) Presidential Dollar - Dwight D. Eisenhower, Position B is a dollar from the Denver Mint, belonging to the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint's 3.6 million total for the 2015 (D) Dwight D. Eisenhower dollar counts both edge orientations combined, so the number with the Position B edge is unknown. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The thirty-fourth President (1953–1961), Dwight D. Eisenhower was the Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during World War II who oversaw postwar prosperity and the creation of the Interstate Highway System. He previously appeared on the Eisenhower dollar (1971–1978), making this his second U.S. dollar coin appearance. Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson were honored. The Kennedy dollar is collected alongside the Kennedy Half Dollar for a complete set spanning two denominations. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #542921.
