The 2015 (S) Proof Native American Dollar is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 1.1 million examples, making this ranked 0th of 4 mint variants by mintage, with 6% of production. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son Jean Baptiste Crapeau on her back and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring Native American contributions to the United States. The 2015 Native American Dollar pays tribute to the Kahnawake and Akwesasne Mohawk ironworkers who helped build New York City's skyscrapers. The reverse shows an ironworker reaching for an I-beam high above the cityscape. The Mohawk Ironworkers reverse honored Native American contributions to the construction industry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors.
