Description
The 2015 (D) Native American Dollar - Position A is a dollar produced at the Denver Mint as part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 3.8 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 4 mint variants, representing only 23% of total production. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son Jean Baptiste Crapeau on her back and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring Native American contributions to the United States. The 2015 Native American Dollar pays tribute to the Kahnawake and Akwesasne Mohawk ironworkers who helped build New York City's skyscrapers. The reverse shows an ironworker reaching for an I-beam high above the cityscape. The Mohawk Ironworkers reverse honored Native American contributions to the construction industry. Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 77% copper, 12% zinc, 1% other over a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #542022.
