Description
Part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series, the 2015 (P) Native American Dollar - Position A is a dollar from the Philadelphia Mint. The U.S. Mint reported 2,800,000 2015-P Native American dollars as a whole, without separating the Position A and Position B edges, so how many show this orientation is unknown. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse changes every year to honor a Native American contribution. The 2015 Native American Dollar pays tribute to the Kahnawake and Akwesasne Mohawk ironworkers who helped build New York City's skyscrapers. The reverse shows an ironworker reaching for an I-beam high above the cityscape. The Mohawk Ironworkers reverse honored Native American contributions to the construction industry. Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in manganese brass (77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, 4% nickel) bonded to a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #542020.
