Description
The 2015 (W) Native American Dollar - Mohawk Ironworkers Enhanced Coin & Currency Set is a special strike dollar struck at the West Point Mint, part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 88,805 examples, making this the lowest mintage among 6 mint variants, representing only less than 1% of total production. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son Jean Baptiste Crapeau on her back and the reverse displays rotating designs honoring Native American contributions to the United States. The 2015 Native American Dollar pays tribute to the Kahnawake and Akwesasne Mohawk ironworkers who helped build New York City's skyscrapers. The reverse shows an ironworker reaching for an I-beam high above the cityscape. The Mohawk Ironworkers reverse honored Native American contributions to the construction industry. Struck at the West Point Mint, originally a bullion depository that became a full coin production facility, specializing in commemorative and bullion issues. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $26 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 77% copper, 12% zinc, 1% other over a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #546368.
