The 2015 (S) Proof Blue Ridge Parkway - Silver Quarter is a proof quarter struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The San Francisco Mint struck 490,829 silver proof Blue Ridge Parkway quarters dated 2015. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse shows the parkway curving along a mountainside toward a tunnel, with flowering dogwood, North Carolina’s state flower, in the foreground. Inscriptions: BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY, NORTH CAROLINA, 2015 and E PLURIBUS UNUM. Homestead (NE), Kisatchie (LA), Blue Ridge Parkway (NC), Bombay Hook (DE), and Saratoga (NY) were featured. The program entered its middle years with steady collector participation. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors.
