2015 (P) Lincoln Shield Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-012

Description

2015 WDDO-012 is a doubled die obverse on the 2015 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The date shows strong extra thickness. Obverse markers: a crack from the front of the eyebrow running NNW into the forehead, with a chip on it just above the eye and to its east; and a crack crossing the hair E/W on top of the head, with a large chip below the first T in TRUST and slightly west of it. Reverse markers: a small gouge just left of the bottom of the first A in AMERICA; a chip at the base of the E in ONE; a large crack along the shield's top left; and chips above the U and R of PLURIBUS and between them, plus chips at the top center of the shield. Stephen Young submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes this is a replacement listing: the original turned out to be a misidentified WDDO-010 specimen, and Stephen Young is credited with finding the wrong attribution.
