Description

The 2014 (P) Proof Silver Kennedy Half Dollar - 50th Anniversary Set is a proof half dollar struck at the Philadelphia Mint, part of the Kennedy Half Dollars 50th Anniversary 2014 series. The U.S. Mint produced 219,173 examples, making this ranked 4th of 7 mint variants by mintage, with 16% of production. The obverse features John F. Kennedy facing left, based on the presidential medal by Gilroy Roberts and the reverse displays the Presidential Seal — a heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $41 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 90% silver, 10% copper, weighing 12.5 grams, 30.61 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #530169.
