Description

A dollar from the Philadelphia Mint, the 2014 (P) Native American Dollar - Position B belongs to the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. The U.S. Mint gives 3.1 million as the mintage for the entire 2014-P Native American dollar issue; the edge lettering was applied after striking, and Position B coins were never counted separately. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse changes every year to honor a Native American contribution. The 2014 Native American Dollar honors the hospitality extended by Native Americans to the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The reverse shows a Native American man offering a ceremonial pipe while a woman holds food, with a compass displaying "NW." Philadelphia's mint — the nation's first — has produced coins without interruption since its founding in 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $7 depending on grade and condition. Struck in manganese brass (77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, 4% nickel) bonded to a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #527061.
