Description

The 2014 (D) Native American Dollar - Enhanced Uncirculated Missing Edge Lettering is a special strike dollar struck at the Denver Mint, part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date series. It comes from the 2014-D Enhanced Uncirculated issue, made for the Coin and Currency set, which had a mintage of 50,000 in all; how many left the Mint without edge lettering is not recorded. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse changes every year to honor a Native American contribution. The 2014 Native American Dollar honors the hospitality extended by Native Americans to the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The reverse shows a Native American man offering a ceremonial pipe while a woman holds food, with a compass displaying "NW." Struck at the Denver Mint, established in 1906 from an earlier assay office that processed Colorado gold rush metal. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $12 depending on grade and condition. Struck in manganese brass (77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, 4% nickel) bonded to a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter.
