Description

The 2014 (P) Native American Dollar - Position A, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, is part of the Sacagawea & Native American Dollars 2000 to Date collection. The U.S. Mint coined 3.1 million Native American dollars at Philadelphia in 2014 across both edge positions; how many show Position A is not recorded. The obverse features Sacagawea carrying her infant son, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau, on her back; the reverse changes every year to honor a Native American contribution. The 2014 Native American Dollar honors the hospitality extended by Native Americans to the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The reverse shows a Native American man offering a ceremonial pipe while a woman holds food, with a compass displaying "NW." The Philadelphia Mint, America's oldest coin-making facility, has struck coins continuously since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $7 depending on grade and condition. Struck in manganese brass (77% copper, 12% zinc, 7% manganese, 4% nickel) bonded to a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #527060.
