Description

The 2013 (P) Presidential Dollar - Theodore Roosevelt, Position A is a dollar produced at the Philadelphia Mint as part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 5.3 million examples, making this ranked 15th of 16 mint variants by mintage, with 8% of production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The twenty-sixth President (1901–1909), Theodore Roosevelt became the youngest person to assume the presidency at age 42 and was a champion of progressive reform, conservation, and the Panama Canal. A passionate numismatist, he personally commissioned Augustus Saint-Gaudens to redesign U.S. gold coinage, producing what many consider the most beautiful American coins ever made. McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, Taft, and Wilson were honored in collector-only format. The Roosevelt dollar is popular with collectors due to his role in modernizing American coin design. Struck at the original U.S. Mint facility, in continuous operation since 1792. Estimated market value ranges from $1 to $6 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 77% copper, 12% zinc, 1% other over a pure copper core, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #517691.
