Description

Listed in the VarietyVista doubled die reverse catalog for a 2013 America the Beautiful quarter, this variety shows a medium spread in the east direction on the lower right branches and leaves of the design. Cataloged under UVC-2011 and DMR-002, the die progressed through Stage A with both the reverse and obverse in early die state, Stage B at mid-die state (unconfirmed), and Stage C at late die state (unconfirmed). The America the Beautiful quarter program ran from 2010 through 2021, featuring five new reverse designs annually through 2020 (one in 2021) that depicted national parks and historic sites across all fifty states and territories. Each design's unique artistic elements — landscapes, wildlife, architecture, and natural features — created distinct doubling signatures when hub misalignment occurred during die preparation. An eastward medium spread on branches and leaves indicates the hub was offset in that direction during the second hubbing impression, shifting the botanical elements enough to create a visible doubled image. This variety is cataloged as DDR-001.
