Description
Produced at the Philadelphia Mint, the 2013 (P) Great Basin National Park Quarter is part of the America the Beautiful Quarters 2010-2021 series. The Philadelphia Mint struck 122,400,000 Great Basin quarters dated 2013. The obverse features George Washington facing left, based on a 1786 bust by Jean-Antoine Houdon and the reverse displays unique designs featuring national parks and sites from each state and territory. The reverse depicts a single Bristlecone Pine growing among rocky glacial moraines. Great Basin National Park is home to Bristlecone Pines, among the oldest living organisms on Earth at nearly 5,000 years old. White Mountain (NH), Perry's Victory (OH), Great Basin (NV), Fort McHenry (MD), and Mount Rushmore (SD) were released. Estimated market value ranges from $0.25 to $1 depending on grade and condition. Struck in 75% copper, 25% nickel over a pure copper center, weighing 5.67 grams, 24.3 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Cataloged as PCGS #517197.
