The 2013 5-Star Generals Commemorative Five Dollar Gold is a United States five-dollar gold coin from the Modern Commemorative Five Dollar Gold (1984-Date) series. In 2013 the Philadelphia Mint struck 5,667 uncirculated 5-Star Generals five-dollar gold coins and the West Point Mint 15,834 proofs, 21,501 in all. The obverse features General Douglas MacArthur with the five-star insignia, and the reverse displays the Leavenworth Lamp of the Command and General Staff College. A modern issue from an era of rotating coin designs, collector-focused programs, and renewed interest in numismatic artistry. Struck in 90% gold and 10% alloy, weighing 8.36 grams, 21.6 mm in diameter, with a reeded edge. Designed by Ronald D. Sanders/Barbara Fox.
