The 2012 (S) Proof Presidential Dollar - Grover Cleveland 24th is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 1.4 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 20 mint variants, representing only 2% of total production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. Serving his second non-consecutive term as the twenty-fourth President (1893–1897), Grover Cleveland is the only president counted twice in the numbering of presidencies and thus the only one honored with two separate Presidential Dollar coins. His second term was marked by the severe Panic of 1893. Arthur, Cleveland (first term), Benjamin Harrison, and Cleveland (second term) were issued. Production shifted to collector-only, ending circulation strikes. Cleveland is the only president to appear on two coins. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors. Struck at the San Francisco Mint, established during the California Gold Rush and now primarily producing proof and collector coins. Estimated market value is approximately $21.
