Description

The 2012 (D) Presidential Dollar - Grover Cleveland 22nd, Position B is a dollar from the Denver Mint, belonging to the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint's 4.1 million total for the 2012 (D) Grover Cleveland 22nd dollar counts both edge orientations combined, so the number with the Position B edge is unknown. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The twenty-second President (1885–1889), Grover Cleveland was known as an honest reformer who vetoed more bills than all previous presidents combined. He is unique in American history as the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms, making him both the 22nd and 24th president. Arthur, Cleveland (first term), Benjamin Harrison, and Cleveland (second term) were issued. Production shifted to collector-only, ending circulation strikes. Cleveland is the only president with two Presidential dollars, one for each of his nonconsecutive terms. Coined at Denver's facility, which transitioned from processing Colorado gold rush metal to full-scale coin production in 1906. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #512085.
