The 2012 (S) Proof Presidential Dollar - Grover Cleveland 22nd is a proof dollar struck at the San Francisco Mint, part of the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint produced 1.4 million examples, making this the lowest mintage among 20 mint variants, representing only 2% of total production. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. The twenty-second President (1885–1889), Grover Cleveland was known as an honest reformer who vetoed more bills than all previous presidents combined. He is unique in American history as the only president to serve two non-consecutive terms, making him both the 22nd and 24th president. Arthur, Cleveland (first term), Benjamin Harrison, and Cleveland (second term) were issued. Production shifted to collector-only, ending circulation strikes. Cleveland is the only president to appear on two coins. As a proof issue, this coin was struck multiple times on specially prepared polished planchets using polished dies, producing mirror-like fields and frosted design elements prized by collectors.
