Description

A dollar from the Philadelphia Mint, the 2012 (P) Presidential Dollar - Grover Cleveland 24th, Position A belongs to the Presidential Dollars 2007 to Date series. The U.S. Mint struck 10.7 million 2012 (P) Grover Cleveland 24th dollars in all, Position A and Position B edges together; how the total divides between the two is not recorded. The obverse features rotating portraits of each U.S. president in order of service, released four per year and the reverse displays the Statue of Liberty. Serving his second non-consecutive term as the twenty-fourth President (1893–1897), Grover Cleveland is the only president counted twice in the numbering of presidencies and thus the only one honored with two separate Presidential Dollar coins. His second term was marked by the severe Panic of 1893. Arthur, Cleveland (first term), Benjamin Harrison, and Cleveland (second term) were issued. Production shifted to collector-only, ending circulation strikes. Cleveland is the only president with two Presidential dollars, one for each of his nonconsecutive terms. Struck in 88.5% copper, 6% zinc, 3.5% manganese and 2% nickel, weighing 8.1 grams, 26.5 mm in diameter, with a lettered edge. Cataloged as PCGS #512076.
