Description

2012 WDDO-006 is a doubled die obverse on the 2012 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY shows strong extra thickness, much heavier at the top right of the Y than at its top left, and the lower left of each letter in ERTY is notched. Obverse markers: a deep ridge along the rim between 9:00 and 2:00; two small dents at the rim beneath VDB; thin scratches running SE off the chin and NW off the back of the collar; a small gouge right of the chin; a small gouge at the rim under the vest's center crease; a gouge inside the ridge right of IN; and a short gouge running in from the rim to the left of the first T in TRUST. The reverse markers are light chipping on the shield, along its upper left edge and right of its top; several gouges between the rim and the left end of the scroll; a short gouge over the U in UNITED, on the left; and a gouge over the E in STATES, on the right. Albert Neils, Sr. submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler notes this is a replacement listing: the first WDDO-006 turned out to duplicate Stage A of WDDO-004.
