Description
2012 WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 2012 Lincoln Shield cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. LIBERTY shows strong extra thickness, especially on the ERTY, and the date shows light extra thickness. Wexler notes no significant obverse markers for Stage A. At Stage B, a gouge appears right of the top of the G in GOD, and small chips form on the T of LIBERTY, at the upper and lower parts of its left side. On the reverse, Stage A has a pre-die crack depression along the top of the shield on its left side; by Stage B it has become a crack. Marvin L. Young submitted Stage A and Joseph Koelling Stage B. Its Coppercoins number is 2012P-1DO-003. Wexler notes that the original WDDO-006 turned out to duplicate Stage A of this variety, and that an added photo, from a Grant Hopkins coin, shows the date.
