Description
This 2011-W silver medal is the West Point Mint version of the September 11 National Medal, one of the most emotionally significant modern issues from the United States Mint. The "W" mint mark indicates production at the West Point Mint in New York, adding particular resonance given New York City's status as the primary target of the September 11 attacks. The West Point version and the Philadelphia version (PCGS #508799) were struck from the same dies but at different facilities, creating a two-coin set for collectors.
