Description
Cataloged as 2009-D 1-cent SF EC WDDR-007, this doubled die reverse was struck on the 2009-D Lincoln Bicentennial Early Childhood cent. The SF designation indicates satin finish production, struck for the annual uncirculated mint set with a distinctive matte-like surface from a specialized burnishing process applied to blanks before striking. Satin finish coins were produced from 2005 to 2010 for U.S. Mint uncirculated sets, and doubled die varieties on satin specimens are less commonly encountered than on standard business strikes due to smaller production runs. The Early Childhood reverse depicts the log cabin where Lincoln was born, designed by Richard Masters.
