2008 Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-006
ErrorDescription
Honoring the sixth President of the United States, this 2008 Philadelphia Mint John Quincy Adams Presidential Dollar displays doubling at the intersection of the second ray clockwise from the crown of the Statue of Liberty and her right arm on Don Everhart's reverse design. The doubling manifests precisely where the ray crosses the arm — a junction of linear elements that renders hub displacement particularly legible. Strong die gouge south from the bottom left of the R in PRESIDENT, small die gouge northwest of the 2 in 1825, and north-south die scratches through IDENT of PRESIDENT provide robust attribution markers. This is the Position A edge lettering orientation, where the incused edge text — date, mint mark, IN GOD WE TRUST, and E PLURIBUS UNUM — reads in normal orientation relative to the obverse. John Quincy Adams served from 1825 to 1829, the son of Founding Father John Adams and himself a diplomat, senator, and later congressman after his presidency. Cross-referenced as Wexler Variety ID 2008-P $1 JQA WDDR-006.
