Description

Pairing the WDDR-004 reverse die doubling with a Doubled Edge Lettering Overlap, this 2008-P Andrew Jackson Presidential Dollar carries two independent manufacturing anomalies — the reverse hub displacement visible at the second ray-arm intersection on the Statue of Liberty design, and a doubled application of the edge inscriptions creating overlapping text around the rim. The edge lettering overlap occurred when the coin passed through the edge-lettering collar twice or the mechanism double-struck, imprinting the date, P mintmark, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and IN GOD WE TRUST in overlapping layers. This makes the Doubled Edge Lettering Overlap entries among the most complex in the WDDR-004 family, documenting errors from two separate production stages. No significant die markers have been noted on either obverse or reverse. Struck in manganese brass clad composition.
