Description

On the Wyoming State Quarter reverse, the 2007 DDR-054 produces medium spread with additional hubbing visible on the horse's mane beneath the saddle horn—a location that plays directly into the iconic bucking bronco design. Cataloged as UVC-1846 and DMR-057, three die stages have been identified. Stage A is an unconfirmed early die state. Stage B, at early-to-mid die state, develops a die chip and depression above the cowboy's hat along with die cracks behind the upper tail, while the obverse also reads EMDS. Stage C represents an unconfirmed late die state. The saddle horn area of the Wyoming Quarter is a natural focal point for variety collectors, and the extra mane detail created by the doubled hubbing adds material where the design is already richly detailed.
