2007 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003

Description

2007 WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse on the 2007 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The date and the hair and beard details are strongly thickened, and LIBERTY slightly so, with light notching on the upper left of RTY. Obverse Stage A: a light WSW-to-ENE scratch over the TY of LIBERTY. Obverse Stage B: an extremely strong crack running south to north from the hair right of the ear, through the W in WE and out to the rim. Near the top of the head a branch splits off this crack and heads SW through the hair at the upper back of the head. On the reverse, Stage A has a small gouge to the left of the first S in STATES at its base. In Stage B, a strong crack starts at the rim near 7:00, passes through the E in ONE on its left side and stops short of the Memorial steps. Brian Allen submitted Stage A and Marvin Young submitted Stage B. CONECA lists the variety as 1-O-VI, and its Coppercoins number is 2007P-1DO-002. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
