2006 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-043

Description

Extra thickness and notching on the upper left corners of the letters of LIBERTY identify this 2006 Philadelphia Mint Lincoln Memorial Cent, which is also a combination variety — the reverse carries a minor doubled die listed as 2006 1c WDDR-068. Attributed by the Wexler Team under Wexler Variety ID 2006 1c WDDO-043. Obverse die markers include a small die gouge (dot) below the left side of the D in GOD and another small die gouge (dot) below the left side of the E in LIBERTY. On the reverse, the minor doubled die WDDR-068 provides a secondary attribution for the same die pair. The notching pattern on the upper left corners of the LIBERTY letters is a Class VI extra thickness characteristic, where design elements appear heavier than normal due to the hubbing anomaly. DDO/DDR combination varieties offer collectors dual attribution from a single coin, and the pairing of WDDO-043 with WDDR-068 means both obverse and reverse dies in this marriage carry documented doubling.
