2006 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-010

Description

2006 WDDO-010 is a doubled die obverse on the 2006 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The date and LIBERTY are strongly thickened, and ERTY carries notches on the upper left. Some thickening also appears on the lower beard and hair details and on the lapel fold over the bowtie. On the obverse, a short scratch heads east from the eyebrow, and a small gouge (dot) lies well north of the I in LIBERTY. On the reverse, a gouge sits just under the U in UNITED; a scratch heads NE from the bottom of the C through the last A of AMERICA; and a short gouge projects from the rim, SE of the right Memorial base's tip. Gene Nichols submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references. Wexler includes it in its "Best Of" varieties.
