2005 (P) West Virginia State Quarter - CU-25c-2005P-17R(WV) Cud

Description

A second West Virginia State Quarter reverse cud from the 2005-P production, CU-25c-2005P-17R(WV) carries the Cuds on Coins cross-reference JCQ-2005PWV-002 and was recorded on 03/05/2023. Cuds on Coins also gives it the cross-reference JCQ-2005PWV002, the same number it gives CU-25c-2005P-10R(WV). The "17R" in the Cuds on Coins designation pairs catalog number 17 in the West Virginia 2005-P listings with R for a reverse die break. The Mint needed to prepare separate die sets for five different reverse designs annually — each design requiring its own master die, working hubs, and working dies, multiplying the opportunities for rim fractures across the aggregate tooling inventory.
