2005 (P) California State Quarter - Doubled Die Reverse WDDR-002

Description

2005-P CA WDDR-002 is a doubled die reverse on the 2005-P California state quarter, cataloged by the Wexler team. South of the condor, extra trees stick up above the tops of the others. On the obverse, a gouge lies left of the U of UNITED, low down, and a small gouge sits under the R of TRUST toward its right side. Reverse markers: inside the 8 of 1850, in its lower loop, a chip; a small gouge over the M of YOSEMITE at its upper left; a short crack running NE from John Muir's hat at the front of its brim; over the hat's top front, a pre-die chip depression; and pre-die chip depressions at the upper right and lower right of the granite headwall. Kenneth Russell submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 1-R-VIII.

• Obverse: A die gouge can be found to the left of the lower U in UNITED. A small die gouge can be found below the right side of the R in TRUST. Reverse: A die chip can be found inside the bottom loop of the 8 in 1850. A small die gouge can be found above the top left side of the M of YOSEMITE. A short die crack runs NE from the front of the rim of John Muir’s hat. A pre-die chip depression can be found above the top front of the hat. A pre-die chip depression can be found at the top right side of the granite headwall. A pre-die chip depression can be found at the bottom right side of the granite headwall. Die Markers: Obverse:
