Part of the Jefferson Nickels Westward Journey 2004-2005 series, the 2005 (D) Jefferson Nickel - Ocean in View is a nickel from the Denver Mint. The U.S. Mint produced 411.1 million examples, making this ranked 2nd of 5 mint variants by mintage, with 18% of production. The obverse features two different obverse portraits: a modified Schlag portrait (2004) and a new forward-facing portrait by Joe Fitzgerald (2005) and the reverse displays four commemorative designs: the Peace Medal (2004), Keelboat (2004), American Bison (2005), and Ocean in View (2005).
