2004 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-009

Description

2004 WDDO-009 is a doubled die obverse on the 2004 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. The letters of LIBERTY show light extra thickness, with notches on the lower right of ERTY. On the obverse, a gouge (dot) lies at the lower left of the second zero of the date, two gouges (dots) are on the lower right of the bust, and several strong gouges sit well left of the I in IN. The reverse is also a doubled die, listed in the Wexler files as 2004 WDDR-025. Its doubling is on the center-left side of the seventh column, right of the upper part of the statue. Reverse markers: a gouge just left of the base of the 12th column and another to its right; a gouge under the right part of the Memorial base; a gouge in the upper part of the C in CENT; and a gouge well north of that C. John A. Wexler submitted the variety. Wexler lists no cross-references.
