2004 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-004

Description

2004 WDDO-004 is a doubled die obverse on the 2004 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the ESE shows on ERTY of LIBERTY and on the date. Obverse Stage A: a scratch in the field east of the curl of hair at the front, and a gouge (dot) SW of the first T in TRUST. Obverse Stage B: a gouge (dot) now appears between IN and GOD, and a crack runs NW from Lincoln's eyebrow through the forehead. Reverse Stage A: a gouge (dot) north of the statue and another in the fifth bay, left of the statue; short cracks at the tops of the third and fourth columns; and a large chip on the lower first column. For Stage B, Wexler reports that the Stage A reverse was replaced by a new one, which shows a gouge (dot) north of the upper right part of the Memorial. John A. Wexler submitted Stage A and Brian Ribar submitted Stage B. Crawford lists the variety as CDDO-001.
