2004 (P) Lincoln Memorial Cent - Doubled Die Obverse WDDO-003

Description

2004 WDDO-003 is a doubled die obverse on the 2004 Lincoln Memorial cent, cataloged by the Wexler team. A spread toward the SW appears as notches on the upper left of RTY in LIBERTY. Obverse Stage A: a strong gouge (dot) between the tops of the second zero and the 4 of the date. Obverse Stage B: a crack from the lower E to the B of LIBERTY; cracks on the left side and the top of the first zero; and a crack running NW from Lincoln's eyebrow. Wexler describes the Stage A reverse as relatively free of markers. Reverse Stage B shows cracks at the tops of the third and fourth columns, a gouge (dot) near the rim SE of FG (the designer's initials), and two small gouges at the upper right of the T in CENT. Gene Nichols submitted the variety. CONECA lists it as 2-O-VIII and Crawford as CDDO-008; its Coppercoins number is 2004P-1DO-002.
