Description

Doubling shows on the left side of the 7th column to the right of the statue’s legs. Doubling also shows between the knees on the statue. Die Markers: Obverse: A die gouge (dot) shows below Lincoln’s nose. A die gouge (dot) shows at the back of Lincoln’s mouth. A die gouge shows in the field to the right of Lincoln’s eyebrow. Two die gouges (dots) show behind Lincoln’s head, southeast of IN. A strong vertical die flow line shows to the right of the last T in TRUST. Two strong die gouges show on the upper edge of Lincoln’s collar. Reverse: A strong die gouge (dot) shows below the first S in STATES. An area of die damage shows on the southwest edge of the L in PLURIBUS. Two die gouges (dots) show in the field left of the left Memorial roof. A light diagonal die crack runs through the top of column 2. A die gouge (dot) shows in Memorial bay 3. A die crack runs northeast from the right buttress with tripod.
