Description

Tenth doubled die reverse cataloged for the 2002 Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial Cent, WDDR-010 shows doubling in the Memorial columns 6 and 7 area of Frank Gasparro's reverse design, where hub misalignment during die production created a visible secondary impression of architectural elements. Extra or doubled Memorial column varieties are among the most sought-after Lincoln Memorial Cent errors because the columns provide clean vertical reference lines where even subtle displacement becomes apparent. The obverse carries a vertical die scratch to the right of the second T in TRUST and a small die gouge below the second 9-like numeral area in the date, along with numerous die scratches running northwest to southeast below the date. On the reverse, a die gouge appears to the left of the top of the second A in AMERICA. Attributed by the Wexler Team under Wexler Variety ID 2002 1¢ WDDR-010, this variety rewards careful examination of the Memorial facade under magnification. Ten documented DDRs for the 2002-P date reflects the continuing pattern of deep cataloging that characterizes late-era Memorial Cent variety research.
