Assigned UVC-3253 / DMR-021 by VarietyVista, the 2002 DDR-020 stands apart from most Memorial cent doubled die reverses because the doubling affects Lincoln's chair rather than the architectural columns. Medium spread to the west produces an extra arm rest visible through the leg area of the seated figure, creating a secondary image of the furniture element that overlaps the statue's lower body. Chair and furniture doubling on Memorial reverses is less commonly encountered than column doubling, partly because the chair's fine detail sits deeper within the design's central recess, where subtle hub shifts may be harder to detect. Confirmed at Early Die State (Stage A), this variety rewards careful examination of the area immediately surrounding Lincoln's seated form. The 2002 Philadelphia cent run exceeded 3.2 billion coins, yet furniture-element DDRs are scarce discoveries within that volume. Distinguishing chair-arm doubling from column doubling is straightforward: the ghost image follows the curved arm rest contour rather than a straight vertical line.
