2002 Doubled Die Reverse DDR-016

Description

Listed by VarietyVista as UVC-3249 / DMR-017, the 2002 DDR-016 is a Philadelphia Lincoln Memorial cent featuring medium spread to the west that generates an extra column #7 from hand to foot. Where DDR-007 from the same year shows eastward doubling on column #6, DDR-016 demonstrates the opposite direction — westward hub shift creating a ghost image on the first column right of the statue. The hand-to-foot reach indicates substantial column coverage, encompassing nearly the entire visible length of column #7 between Lincoln's extended hand and the base. Confirmed at Early Die State (Stage A), the secondary column image should appear cleanly separated from the primary, without the blurring that accumulates as dies deteriorate through extended press runs. Westward column #7 doubling and eastward column #6 doubling are complementary phenomena: a hub shifted left produces a ghost on the right side, and vice versa. This directional relationship helps variety specialists classify Memorial cent DDRs into systematic families.
