Description

Recorded under UVC-3242 / DMR-010 by VarietyVista, the 2002 DDR-009 Lincoln Memorial cent exhibits medium spread to the east, generating an extra column #6 from the elbow to the ankle. Column #6, situated immediately left of the seated Lincoln figure, becomes the target whenever the hub shifts eastward during die production, as the displaced secondary image overlaps the column nearest the leftward edge of the statue. The elbow-to-ankle span covers most of the column's visible height, providing a substantial diagnostic zone for attribution. Confirmed at Early Die State (Stage A) for both reverse and obverse, the secondary column should appear as a clean parallel line without interference from die deterioration. Eastward column #6 varieties are less frequently cataloged than their westward column #7 counterparts across the Memorial cent series, making DDR-009 noteworthy within the 2002 doubled die reverse census. Medium-spread classification indicates sufficient hub displacement to produce separation visible under standard numismatic magnification, typically 10x to 16x.
